Rolando Little League

2022 Rolando Little League Board of Directors

We are here to provide you and your family with the best Little League experience possible! We are proud to bring you a group of highly accomplished volunteers and coaches in the district.

Chris Bartel

President

I am Chris Bartel, your new League President.  I consider myself little more than a caretaker of this great organization and I hope to leave it in an even better place than I found it.  I appreciate all the great volunteer work from the boards that preceded us and hope to carry on that tradition of dedication to the Rolando community.  I have been with Rolando since the Spring of 2018 as a baseball coach for my son Philip’s teams.  His older brother Dominic also played at Rolando in 2014, 15, and 18.  I started coaching for my eldest, Jacob, at West Hills Little League (Santee) in 2009.  Baseball runs very deep in my blood and now the connection to Rolando runs deep as well.  It is a privilege to be a small part of what we have here.  I hope you all join us in keeping Rolando the best youth sports organization around.

Our family has been involved in Rolando Little League for many seasons now! I grew up playing baseball and cheering on my beloved home team, the Chicago Cubs! Baseball is the heartbeat of the Smith family and being a “baseball mom” is one of my favorite titles! I am honored to serve on the board and help create amazing baseball memories for many families in our community!

I am Malcolm Parker, also known as coach Malcolm. We have had the honor of playing with Rolando for the past 4 seasons. I believe in supporting our kids through a community of inclusive and positive mindsets and values! We are here to have fun with a main purpose of developmental goals, and a strong sense of true sportsmanship. I like to think of our children, not as a rat race to who can beat who, but as a group supporting each other in growth amongst the entire team and whole village. Welcome to our family... I look forward to seeing you on the fields!

I have been with Rolando since 2012, managing & coaching all of my kids’ teams; Jonathan is 14 and Mia is 6. I also coach high school and club volleyball.  I work with children with special needs as a clinical supervisor for an in-home behavior therapy program. I also substitute teach for La Mesa/Spring Valley school district and tutor Math and Spanish. I am a sports fanatic and when not coaching, you are likely to find me at an SDSU football or basketball game (class of 2011) or a UCSD volleyball game (class of 2003). I am also a youth leader at my church and serve on the board for the Patriots Junior's Baseball League.

I'm blessed to be a part of Rolando Little League.  I have been coaching my two sons here for the past 6 years with so many memories. I believe Rolando is a great place for your child to learn the game and have Fun and get knowledgeable teaching from our coaching staff.

Looking forward to a Great 2022 Spring Season!

I have lived in La Mesa since 2003. My wife and I adopted our son Logan as a baby in 2010.

Logan started playing baseball at 5 years old and we quickly found out he had a  knack for it so we signed him up for Little league. He started off in CAPS and both of us knew only the basics of baseball. I went to every practice with Logan so that I could watch and learn as well.  I have been an assistant coach with a few teams previously and I currently manage one of the Fall Ball teams for the Majors. I certainly can say it's been fun and rewarding but most of all spending time with my son and enjoying the game of Baseball.

I retired from the Navy in 2012 after 22 years of service and I currently work as a Combat Systems Port Engineer at Naval Station San Diego. My hobbies include choreographed Holiday light shows, woodworking, model shipbuilding, classic Ford Mustangs, and probably a few others that suck up all my money.

I'm very proud to be on the board and I'm super motivated to keep our fields looking their best.

Our family has been involved in Rolando Little League for many seasons now and has become a home for us, a safe place for us to grow and learn all that baseball has to teach us about the game of baseball and about the game of life.  Asher (AJ), has played at RLL since he was able to hold a bat and his brother Zion is right behind him following his footsteps and starting tee ball this year. Our hope is that RLL becomes that kind of place for you and your family as well.
